[العربية تتبع] Cairo, Egypt, 29 September 2025 – The Analysis and Outreach Hub of the Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict in Doha, in partnership with the League of Arab States (LAS), convened a regional workshop on “Child Protection and Education in Armed Conflict for Member States of the League of Arab States” on 29–30 September 2025 in Cairo, Egypt. The event was held with the technical support of UNESCO Regional Office for the Gulf States and Yemen, UNICEF’s MENA Regional Office, and the Global Coalition to Protect Education from Attack (GCPEA). The forum brought together more than 30 participants from across the region, including government officials responsible for child protection from Ministries of Social Affairs and Education, to deepen their understanding of the Children and Armed Conflict (CAAC) agenda and its implementation to safeguard children in conflict zones. The initiative reflects the continued commitment by the League of Arab States to address key components of the CAAC agenda and the Six Grave Violations against Children. It also aligns with Article 38 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Arab League’s Comprehensive Plan to Curb the Recruitment of Children in Armed Conflicts. Through interactive sessions, participants exchanged innovative practices and discussed challenges and opportunities in child protection and education. They also learned about the global child-participatory campaign, “Prove It Matters”, developed by OSRSG CAAC to empower children’s voices in the protection of their rights. The workshop laid the groundwork for the policymakers to develop policies and practical recommendations to enhance rehabilitation and reintegration efforts for children affected by conflict while ensuring their access to education in fragile environments. For more information about the event, please contact the OSRSG-CAAC, Doha Hub. **** ورشة عمل إقليمية حول تعزيز حماية الأطفال وتعليمهم في النزاعات المسلحة، ينظمها مكتب الممثلة الخاصة للأمين العام المعنية بالأطفال والنزاع المسلح، بالشراكة مع جامعة الدول العربية في القاهرة القاهرة، مصر، 29 سبتمبر 2025 – نظم مركز التحليل والتواصل التابع لمكتب الممثلة الخاصة للأمين العام المعنية بالأطفال والنزاع المسلح في الدوحة، بالشراكة مع جامعة الدول العربية، ورشة عمل إقليمية حول “تعزيز حماية الأطفال وتعليمهم في النزاعات المسلحة للدول الأعضاء في جامعة الدول العربية”، وذلك خلال يومي 29 و30 سبتمبر 2025 في القاهرة، مصر. وقد أقيمت هذه الفعالية بدعم فني من المكتب الإقليمي لليونسكو لدول الخليج واليمن، والمكتب الإقليمي لليونيسف لمنطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا، والتحالف العالمي لحماية التعليم من الهجمات. جمعت الورشة أكثر من 30 مشاركًا من عدة دول عربية، بما في ذلك مسؤولين حكوميين معنيين بحماية الطفل من وزارات الشؤون الاجتماعية والتعليم، بهدف تعميق فهمهم لأجندة الأطفال والنزاع المسلح وآليات تنفيذها لحماية الأطفال في مناطق النزاع. وتعكس هذه المبادرة التزام جامعة الدول العربية المستمر بمعالجة الجوانب الرئيسية لأجندة الأطفال والنزاع المسلح والانتهاكات الجسيمة الستة ضد الأطفال. كما تتماشى مع المادة 38 من اتفاقية حقوق الطفل، والخطة الشاملة لجامعة الدول العربية للحد من تجنيد الأطفال في النزاعات المسلحة. من خلال جلسات تفاعلية، تبادل المشاركون الممارسات المبتكرة وناقشوا التحديات والفرص في مجالي حماية الأطفال والتعليم. كما تعرفوا على الحملة العالمية القائمة على مشاركة الأطفال، “اثبتوا أن الأمر مهم”، التي أطلقها مكتب الممثلة الخاصة للأمين العام، وذلك بهدف تعزيز مشاركة الأطفال وإعلاء أصواتهم في الدفاع عن حقوقهم. كما ساهمت الورشة في تهيئة أرضية مشتركة أمام صانعي السياسات لصياغة توصيات وسياسات عملية تدعم جهود تأهيل وإدماج الأطفال المتأثرين بالنزاعات، مع ضمان استمرارية حصولهم على التعليم في البيئات المتأثرة بالنزاع. للمزيد من المعلومات حول الحدث، يرجى التواصل مع مكتب الممثلة الخاصة للأمين العام المعنية بالأطفال والنزاع المسلح – مركز الدوحة. ***** For additional information, please contact: Ariane Lignier, Communications Officer, Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict (ariane.lignier@un.org) Instagram: @nochildreninwar, Twitter: @childreninwar
