He also visited the facilities for the production and fitting of artificial limbs for child victims of landmines. Subsequently, Mr. Otunnu spoke with media representatives in Ossetia about the need to put an end to the use of landmines and to urge states and non-state actors to ratify the Ottawa convention. He also highlighted the pressing needs to assist in the rehabilitation of the innocent victims of landmines into society.

Mr. Otunnu held extensive discussions with the Prime Minister of North Ossetia-Alania, Mr. Mikhail Shatalov. He also met with the Chairman of the Parliament, Mr. Taimouraz Mamsourov.

Mr. Otunnu returns to Moscow on the 21st June and will hold further meetings with the officials of the Russian Federation.
