The Analysis and Outreach Hub of the Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict, based in Doha, collaborated with students from Northwestern University in Qatar to raise awareness of the impact of armed conflict on children.
As part of this creative partnership, three workshops were held with students to present the Children and Armed Conflict mandate and explore ways to communicate about it:
- Presentation of the Children and Armed Conflict Mandate
- Narrative Framing
- Safe Communications
Afterwards, two students from Northwestern University, Hyemin Cho and Hamad Al-Jaffali were selected to produce compelling visual materials about the grave violations identified by the United Nations Security Council, specifically on the recruitment and use of children in armed conflict, which remains one of most persistent and widespread threats facing children in conflict zones.
Through guidance and mentorship from the Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict, the two students produced separately the two videos below.
