Developments & Concerns

Challenges

  • Continued detention of children.
  • Increasing recruitment and use of children.
  • Continuing armed clashes in Palestine refugee camps and their negative impact on children.

Recommendations

To the Government:

  • To ratify the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the involvement of children in armed conflict.
  • To release children in conflict to reintegration actors and treat them primarily as victims.
  • To encourage the Palestinian National Security Forces to fully apply their Code of Conduct and Code of Ethics in refugee camps.
